The Key to Successful Multiculturalism

Filed under: Management — admin @ 5:15 am

Last December Tony Blair made one of his most important speeches but it was not publicised as it should have been. What he advocated is at the heart if any cohesive and successful community: Integration. Speaking at a lecture at No. 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister held up a multicultural Britain as something to be celebrated, but added bluntly: “Conform to it or don’t come here. We don’t want the hate-mongers, whatever their race, religion or creed.”

Blunt words indeed, but very necessary.

The one thing Britain has lacked for a long time is leadership on diversity issues. Since immigration has increased, there has been an emphasis on legislating for the newcomers’ integration and protection while not much attention was given to the host members who had to deal with their new neighbours. Now, in the wake of the threat from terrorism and Jack Straw’s comments about Muslim women wearing their veils, one can sense a new fear creeping in to communities which needed some sort of reassurance. Without that leadership in diversity, White Britons have perceived, whether wrongly or rightly, that their culture and heritage are being eroded and ignored in order to ‘celebrate’ that of others. We can only change perceptions by acknowledging and addressing them. Minorities are here partly because Britain tried to impose its values and its racism on other countries through colonialism and imperialism. Is that what some minorities are now trying to do? Because in the absence of free speech, we have only imposition and oppression. If we resented British imperialism we cannot have it both ways by trying to change the country to suit ourselves.

Tony Blair said people who wanted to live in Britain had a duty to integrate. He continued, “If you come here lawfully, we welcome you. If you are permitted to stay here permanently, you become an equal member of our community and one of us. The right to be different. The duty to integrate. That is what being British means. And neither racists nor extremists should be allowed to destroy it.”

Some people in immigrant communities might take offence to those words but a divided society cannot advance in any meaningful way. The only way forward is together and, as we chose Britain to be our country of residence, we chose it for the very qualities we need to celebrate and promote, not knock them when we had a free choice in settling here. When we make a decision to leave our country of birth and to embrace the difference of another, that is a deliberate statement about our aspirations. What we believe is right for us at that point in time. We CHOOSE to come to Britain precisely because of the values, ethos and opportunities we too aspired to enjoy; to embrace what Britain is, not what we would like it to be! Constant criticism of a country we are free to take or leave only destroys its potential, as we would be merely pulling in different directions. No one stops us from returning to any country of our choice to enjoy the better existence we crave, or the particular lifestyle we seek. We choose to live in Britain because of what it has to offer each of us and what we can gradually add to it. Not what we can demand from it in our rush to pull it down.

Diversity and multiculturalism can work beautifully when all parties are prepared to compromise, and accord each other respect, but it has to be genuine in every sense of the word. We cannot simply demand respect for ourselves while giving none to others for their culture or beliefs because no country can thrive with a divided nation. If we really love our country, we strive to make it a great place to live. Britain is a wonderful country but it needs to have leadership on its diverse society by laying down clear guidelines of behaviour, what is acceptable and unacceptable for the benefit of all, White and Black. Decisions which should be made through a representative voice of its people, but they must be clear.

There is nothing wrong with the concept of multiculturalism. The problem comes in the lack of understanding of it. Multiculturalism is not about each culture simply doing its own thing, disregarding everyone else. It is actually the celebration of diversity within a framework of unity, compromise and respect which benefits all. In a multicultural society, there has to be clearly agreed principles, responsibilities and rights which everyone adheres to, if they are to have the full benefit of a multicultural state. Anything else, like the insecure vagueness now rampant in the UK, will simply be each to his/her own, a recipe for confusion, inequality and civil disaster.

There are rights and responsibilities attached to being citizens of any country and merely stressing the rights without the responsibilities is folly and can only lead to isolation, discrimination, resentment and divisions. Clear guidelines on what it means to be British are now crucial if the country seeks the respect of all Britons, if it hopes to make them feel empowered and to bring about healing. The Government also needs to add, equally clearly, that if life in Britain is not to one’s liking, a life which every immigrant citizen freely chooses, there are many other countries they can go to that could be more suitable. It means that those who love Britain, warts and all, can enjoy its benefits and help to build it, and those who do not can contribute to somewhere else which means positivity all round. That should be the bottom line for social unity while ensuring due respect and rewards for those who choose to celebrate being British, regardless of their culture.

It seems Tony Blair has at last given a strong signal on that. I hope his successor will be equally uncompromising.

How To Make an Online Memorial Tribute

Filed under: Management — admin @ 10:21 pm

If you have lost a loved one, dealing with the grief can be a difficult process, not only for you, but each life touched by your dearly departed. Creating an online memorial Website for him or her can be the most appropriate and enduring tribute you can make to the life of the deceased, helping you and a close circle of family and friends deal with the loss.

With a memorial Web site you can express your love, allowing family and friends to share memories from anywhere in the world. An online tribute provides a central place for even strangers to express sympathy and share in your grieving.

Over time as people contribute their messages, photos and poetry it becomes a wonderful source of cherished memories for everyone to reflect upon at any time. So no matter where you are in the world or age, you can always ensure your loved one is remembered and honored.

What Do I Need To Create an Memorial Web Site?
The following is a list of items generally accepted as standard elements of an online memorial Website.

Biography – Names, Dates and Places
The most important information is the biographical data, such as birth date, death date, full name and places associated with life events. With an online memorial Web site, you can fully document, celebrate and cherish the life of a dearly departed. The biography can contain as little or as much information as you like. You can always update or add more at a later date.

Photograph
A portrait or picture is a good idea, but not strictly necessary. However, a well-chosen photo of the departed paints a thousand words and offers a more personal connection with visitors to the memorial. If you don’t have an digital photo, you’ll have to digitize a conventional photo. To do this, you will need access to a scanner for copying a photo onto your computer. If you don’t have a scanner, it’s very likely that a friend or family member does and are willing to help you. Also, most print shops and office supply stores will be happy to scan photos onto a CD for a small fee.

Tribute Text, Eulogy / Obituary or Poem
Your tribute text is the essence of your memorial. It can be the funeral eulogy, a poem or your own thoughts and memories. It’s your memorial, so please take time to reflect, remember and share how you felt, or feel, about your loved one. Telling a story which stands out in your mind about the deceased is always a good start.

Multi-Media (video, audio, photo albums)
Not all people have access to video or audio clips of their loved one. If you do and are willing to include them, they allow a full multi-media experience for visitors to the memorial. It is advisable to keep the size of the video to a minimum for quick and convenient download by visitors.

Web Site Hosting
Once you have all your content and images ready for publishing you will need to decide on a Web site host. You may prefer to register your own domain to fully reflect the person being remembered, or you may like to use the services of an online memorial website host. With these services, you usually get a unique URL and an account for customizing your Website. You will need to find an online memorial service provider that suits your needs, budget and expectations.

Invite Family and Friends
Once you are done creating the initial online memorial and are ready to publish, you can invite friends and family to visit and share their memories or sympathy. Have ready a list of emails you would like to send online invites to.

You’re Now Ready To Create a Memorial Web Site
You now have everything you need to create an online memorial Web site and take the first step to facilitating the preservation of the memory of your loved one, for the sake of all those that grief their loss and the love in maintaining a connection with them.

SEO Ranking Factors

Introducing SEO Ranking Factors
What will make me top? Or more precisely “What are the factors that determine my position in the natural listings for a specific key phrase and what is their relative importance?”

Wow! Those are the questions that everyone involved in SEO, from clients to agencies, wants and needs to know. So let’s work through some answers.

Unfortunately, the number of people who can definitively answer these questions by concisely explaining the hundreds of factors, and the way they work with one another, is strictly limited to the engineers who work for the search engines.

However, through combining the experience of the authors, the review team and disclosure from the search engines and expert commentators, we have compiled a comprehensive list of the most important factors which determine position in the listings.

What determines ranking position in the natural listings?
The position or ranking in the natural listings for a particular key phrase is dependent on a search engine’s ranking algorithm.

For the search query entered into the search engine, the algorithm uses rules or heuristics to identify the most relevant pages, based on the page’s text content and its context (which can be indicated by links from other pages and sites).

Each search engine has a different set of algorithms created by engineers who strive to produce the best relevance for its users.

However, the ranking of natural listings has evolved as a science over the past ten years, based on an even longer history of document indexing and retrieval history. As with all sciences, there are fundamental principles which apply. So to deliver relevance search engines tend to use common search engine ranking factors.

Enough with the science: get with the ranking factors…

We will soon enough. But before we do here’s a word to the wise: understanding some of the most common ranking factors is straightforward. Keyword: ‘straightforward’.

Over the past few years many bedroom cowboys and unethical agencies have raked in fees by pretending that SEO is about wearing a black hat, doing the search voodoo, etc. But there is no need for any smoke or mirrors. If your agency refuses to reveal its techniques to you then our advice would be to move on. Immediately!

Despite the mystique perpetuated about SEO it really isn’t terribly difficult to grasp the concepts. The difficulty lies in managing your keywords and optimization over the long term. Not in understanding the ranking factors.

Who in my organization needs to know about this stuff?
It is essential for your technology team / agencies to understand these ranking factors. It is also imperative that all content owners / authors / stakeholders understand how good quality content can improve search rankings. Authors need to know which key phrases to use, otherwise you won’t have a joined up strategy.

Applying simple ‘house style’ rules can help generate visits from qualified visitors. In fact let’s coin a phrase: ‘house strategy’. You need to develop a ‘house strategy guide’ for your authors and editors.

So I can ditch my SEO agency, right?
It depends, is the honest answer. You might be able to, but it is more likely that this guide will inform your search strategy, with you making the calls. But you will still need somebody to manage it (either in-house or outsourced). Ultimately this guide to search marketing is about increasing ROI and maximising rankings, not about saving costs.

There remains a great need for solid, ethical SEO agencies. Management and optimization is an ongoing task. The bigger your company / market / website, the bigger that task is going to be. High volume search-terms and intense competition means that applying specific optimization techniques is required to rank well. Ethical SEO agencies can help you with this.

The holy grail of SEO is to achieve a high, stable and long-term presence at the top of the SERPs for phrases which have both high volume and which convert well.

Agencies can also help by putting the brakes on your own enthusiasm, as over-optimization is a leading cause of search engine penalties. Equally, after reading this guide, you should be able to determine if your existing agency is over-egging the SEO cake, or feeding you unsound advice.

Remember that search engines also use ranking penalties for websites / pages. They employ filters within their algorithms that penalize websites for search engine spamming (such as over-optimization of a phrase or non-natural links from other sites ).

Now for the six key ranking factors…

1. Planning and strategy including setting performance targets.

2. Index inclusion and coverage.

3. On-page optimization.

4. Link-building (internal and external).

5. SEO process.

6. Conversion efficiency.

Of these six areas, those at the heart of search engine ranking are success factors 2, 3 and 4. Why? Well, if your pages are not included within the index then you cannot expect to gain any search engine referrals. Once included, results are dependent on the combination of on-page optimization and link-building.

When we talk about link-building we’re mainly considering third party links, but a solid internal linking structure should be adopted within your own website/s. There are proven benefits.

The hundreds of factors used by the search engines to determine relevance can be simplified into the two most important factors which are essential for good ranking positions.

Store Fixture Materials

Filed under: Management — admin @ 1:09 pm

Retail store fixtures come in all shapes, sizes, and materials, so narrowing the search for the right store display fixtures for your retail store might seem daunting. A great way to narrow this search is by first considering the different store fixture materials. When you decide on a material that works well with your design, products, and budget, you can move on from there with a more focused approach. This will also keep your store coordinated with one type of material, rather than cluttering your sales floor with random fixtures of completely different materials. Wood fixtures next to plastic ones, and pressed wood next to metal displays are not usually appealing, so try to keep it simple with the right materials.
The main choices of store fixture materials are metal, wood plastic, and conglomerates. Metal fixtures of course come in a large variety of styles and qualities, from custom fixtures to gridwall displays. Years ago, metal fixtures were considered too heavy and over priced, and they were primarily used for large industrial settings. However, the advancement in technology has allowed for the production of lighter products at cheaper prices with many more store fixture styles to choose from. Metal displays are now extremely common for check-out displays, garment racks, shelving systems, and even display counters. Metal usually brings a slick, modern look to a retail environment, while remaining extremely durable and easy to clean.
Wooden store fixtures have been a long time favorite in retail garment and merchandising displays. Perhaps the most appealing quality is the general appearance of wooden fixtures. Depending on the wood and quality of crafting, wood fixtures are often used in boutique and higher end retail displays. As you might imagine, the prices can be higher. Consider the difference in price of metal desk and that of a solid cherry desk. The difference could easily be $500 for the same functionality. At the same time, there is a large variable in wood fixture prices based on their quality and craftsmanship. Solid wood displays are beautiful, but the quality of merchandise and store budget are huge factors in deciding to outfit a store with wood. Wood must also be cleaned and polished frequently to keep it looking nice and new.
Plastic and conglomerate displays are obviously the cheapest store fixture options. They are light-weight and come in an enormous variety. However, this is at the sacrifice of durability and commonly, visual appeal, but they work perfectly for a new store or for someone selling inexpensive products. Plastic and conglomerate (such as pressed wood) displays serve extremely well as temporary displays being light-weight and economic.
By deciding on the right store fixture materials, you have completed half of the search for the right store fixtures. Be consistent with your decision and match your products and customer base to the appropriate fixtures.

Charity Auctions - Increase Your Success By Selling Expensive Items on eBay

Filed under: Management — admin @ 8:41 am

Auctions are excellent tools for diversifying funding streams for nonprofit development professionals. The emergence of ubiquitous online access have made online auctions an excellent vehicle for nonprofits and charities to raise funds while engaging stakeholders and other consituencies in their causes. eBay, the leader platform for online auctions also provides a number of offerings for running nonprofit auctions. Running a charity auction on eBay is simple, but getting the most from your efforts involves developing a strategy and understanding the ins and outs of eBay. Luckily eBay provides lots of information on how to be successful using their services.

You can improve your fundraising success by focusing on higher-priced items for your nonprofit auction.

Selling expensive items on eBay is really no different than selling low cost items. Essentially, no matter what you are selling, it all comes down to how you market the item. This doesn’t mean you have to surf around the Internet placing ads here and there – when it comes to eBay auctions, the marketing is all done at the eBay website. Basically, when you set up your auction, you are setting up an automated marketing campaign.

First, you must determine what the value of your item is, in three different ways. This will help you determine what your reserve price is. On eBay, the reserve price is the lowest price that you are willing to accept for your item. First, have your high priced item evaluated to determine what the actual market value is. Next, research similar items from past auctions at eBay to see what price those items sold for. Finally, determine what the value of the item is toyou. With this information, you should be able to determine the lowest amount you are willing to sell the item for.

************************************

Did you know?

In addition to eBay, other vendors offer vehicles for nonprofits to run fundraising auctions. CMarket - www.cmarket.com offers services emphasizing the importance of bidders, donors and sponsors, and their respective roles in a successful auction. Their Website is a valuable source of fundraising auction tips.

************************************

Set your reserve price, and then set your opening bid price lower than $50 – no matter how high your reserve price is. This is a marketing tactic. It will be hard to attract potential buyers to an auction for an item selling for hundreds or thousands of dollars – but getting them to an auction where the opening bid is only $50 is quite simple. Remember, you don’t have to sell the item to anyone who bids less than your reserve price – unless you choose to do so at the close of the auction. This method of price setting resembles marketing gimmicks used by offline businesses that are simply designed to ‘get customers in the door.’

Work hard on the description for your listing. Use words that really describe your item well. Provide as many details as possible, including details that prove the authenticity of collectible items. Include pictures of the item as well. Do not try to deceive potential buyers! If the item has marks or scratches, simply be honest about it, and make sure that the pictures convey this as well. State how the item will be packed and shipped. Also let potential buyers know that shipping insurance must be purchased as well – in case the item is damaged once it leaves your possession.

For higher priced items, most eBay buyers feel more comfortable using an escrow service. Offer this as an option in your auction, with the understanding that the buyer must pay for the service. This protects both parties from fraud, and it makes many buyers more open to spending the money to obtain the item. eBay has partnered with an escrow service that is commonly used for high ticket items.

Squeezing the Search Engines with directories.

Filed under: Management — admin @ 2:49 am

Birds of a feather sleep together.
Few people are bereft of bias, and likewise for search engine algorythms. Indeed, that is what they are and must evolve towards. How else is an emotionally stupid piece of software to draw any sort of reasonable conclusion?
Select your bedfellows and the search engines may assess that you belong within that assortment of keywords.

Diminishing returns.
There is a point after which the number of low relevance links which may point to your site, are useless. Sure, you may get a limited amount of traffic, but is it out of worthless curiousity or anything practical? If you run a bed and breakfast business in Iceland, how much quality traffic would you expect to get from a website in India which promotes domain names or ringtones? A travel directory in India, however, may be a bit better if it has a category with more than a few listings related to Ireland.

Descriptions and one-liners.
Getting your url listed is one thing but consider also any extra value that may come from an expanded description as opposed to one sentence. A one-liner belongs in a comedy club and an opportunity to put your best foot forward is lost.
Consider the human browser who seeks a difference between a number of listings. Would you opt for the site which has its title rehashed into a description, or a site with a proper description of its services or offerings?
If it is worth spending two minutes in the first place, then it should be worth spending two and a half minutes. You’re getting a contextual ad. after all.

Company Branding and titles.
In a limited number of cases only, is it worth using your company name in the title, if hyperlinked. Yes there is the contextual advantage, but the full benefits of anchor text are lost.
Who is going to type in your company name, when searching for a product or service, but yourself and a limited number of people who know you? This brand recognition will come anyway as the search engine should find it in either case, but incoming keywords pointing to your site is reduced, confused and an incorrect strategy. Remember the emotionally challenged, or logically designed software, which must decide your place in the world?

Physical Addresses.
To maximise any potential, use these fields if they exist as they also place you within a geographical region. Instead of Boutique on the web, you may increase your chances of traffic for Boutique in Boise, if that is where you reside, and so on.

Competition jealously.
Some will worry about a directory being higher in the Serps for a particular set of keywords which a client might desire. So what. As they don’t sell your product and still point to you, who ultimately wins? Not withstanding any page or web rank implications.
In most cases where you site is reasonably constructed, you will get the credit. The logically designed software can usually figure out the probablities, and its just a matter of time while the mathematical formulae are thrashed out.

Focus.
More or less back to context, bedfellows and algorythmic assessment, but another reason why some directories will insist of you finding the most relevant category to submit your site to. Granted, it may also be to preserve their own logical structures, but they are much the same thing.
The object is to align yourself with bunches of similar keywords.

Regional prediction.
As the S.E.’s seek to return more accurate results, you may well find that the world is too big as it is and countermeasures will ensue. The most logical way to go is to provide both an overview and a regional view. You can see that they’ve started doing so in the last few years, and will likely attempt to perfect this. There are too many bidding for the same top page or two and any compartmentalising will achieve this end.
Searching would already be by town, except for the fact that it would be a little too cumbersome for the end user to trawl down through the logical containers. Remember that the software has the advantage in this respect and must wait for the people to find a workaround or alternative solution.

How To Increase Blog Traffic Using Articles

Filed under: Management — admin @ 10:13 pm

When it comes to getting traffic to your blog, enough is never enough. To put it in plain simple, the more traffic you get, the more money you make. However, getting a steady stream of traffic to your blog is very often a major problem for a lot of people.

There are tons of ways to get more traffic to your blogs, but one of the most effective is to write and publish articles related to your market.

1) How To Write Articles Easily

The trick to writing articles is to write and publish them regularly, which really sounds easier than it is. If you’re not outsourcing the articles, you need to write and publish at least one new articles every two weeks. One of the easiest ways to do this is to look back at some of the blog posts you’ve written, and try to turn these into full-fledged articles.

Generally, this would mean anywhere between 500 - 800 words. Anything shorter and you’re likely to be rejected by most article directories. Anything longer is still ok, but would mean your readers get bored.Recycling blog content is a smart way to write articles. Think of your blog as a more informal place where you can write the initial article, and edit it easily from time to time. When pieces of the article has blossomed into a complete piece, you can submit them to article directories and get instant links to your blog.

2) How To Publish Your Articles

Writing the article is really just one part of the traffic building campaign. You still need to publish your article to as many sites as possible. Although you can manually visit a handful of websites and publish your article on each, a smarter was would be to us an article publishing service.

There’s one service I currently use to publish and syndicate all my articles, which is MyArticleMarketer, available at http://www.MyArticleMarketer.com. The service will syndicate all your articles to other article directories, and depending on your niche, this could mean 200 - 500 instant back links to your website. Some of your articles, if they are good, will end up in other people’s ezines and blogs.

With a free account at MyArticleMarketer.com, you will only get distribution on the “partial list”, but an upgrade for a reasonable amount of money will give you unlimited article submissions to a list of more than 5,000 websites. Each article you submit comes with reporting features so you can check exactly how many sites have published your articles.

All your articles will be examined and approved by a human editor. If you don’t upgrade it takes up to two weeks, but upgrade authors can expect 24-hour approval of their articles. You can post as many articles as your want, based on your membership level.

3) Using Private Label Articles

Although there’s been a lot of controversy regarding using Private Label articles recently, the fact is that it is a useful back-up supply when you run out of ideas.

Private Label means that those article were initially ghost-written by someone else, and if you have the rights to use them you can pretty much do whatever you want with them. I recommend that you edit and reword not less than 60% of the PLR article so that it becomes unique content instead of the same article that is being used by the other marketers out there.

Learn How To Kick: Kicking Effectively in a Self-Defense or Combat Situation Part 6 of 10

Filed under: Management — admin @ 8:29 pm

This ten article series will deal with the various components that need to be addressed when considering the utilization of a particular kick in a combat or self-defense situation. These ten components can also be used by the tournament competitor although certain segments would have to be modified slightly for the tournament aspects of kicking, rather than the more intensive nature of using a kick or kicks in combat. Although all of these individual components are important, they are most effective when combined together and utilized correctly when executing a kick.

Although I will only be discussing one of the components in this article, here is the complete list of all ten of them.

1. Your Kicking Ability

2. Your Intended Application

3. The Environment

4. Telegraphing

5. Striking Implement

6. Striking the Correct Target

7. Initial Impact

8. Impact

9. Retraction or Follow Through

10. Return to Fighting Position

Component Six; Striking the Correct Target:

No matter how well you execute your kick, it isn’t going to do you a damn bit of good if you don’t strike a specific vital or vulnerable point on your opponent. Sure, for the most part, hitting your opponent somewhere on his/her body is better than not hitting them at all. However, you risk not only having a less effective kick and possibly prolonging the confrontation, but also the very real possibility that you may end up injuring yourself instead of your opponent.

Imagine for a moment that you are confronted by an opponent and are left with no other options than to resort to an actual physical confrontation. An opportunity presents itself where you are able to execute a Roundhouse kick to your opponent’s ribcage. Only instead of connecting with the lower ribs, you end up hitting his elbow instead. Now anybody that has kicked someone’s elbow with the instep of their foot will tell you just how bad that hurts and how little, if any, effect there is on your opponent. Now imagine being presented with the opportunity to land a kick to your opponent’s head and hitting his shoulder instead. How effective do you think that kick is going to be?

Knowing where to kick your opponent is just as important as knowing how to kick your opponent. If you are serious about learning how to defend yourself, you need to study as much as you can about the physiology of the human anatomy and its ability to withstand blows, as well as, deliver them. This knowledge is beneficial not only for inflicting damage upon your opponent, but also for knowing what to defend on yourself in order to keep from getting seriously hurt. Remember; only use that amount of force necessary to stop your attacker from hurting you. Never use excessive force!

Here are a few things that should be considered concerning vital/vulnerable points.

1. Is the proposed target a vital point or a vulnerable point?

A vital point is generally defined as an area of the body where, when struck
results in either incapacitation or death. A good example of this would be the
groin. Any man who has ever been kicked in the groin knows how bad it hurts
and how incapacitating it can be. If you are lying on the ground and unable to
move, how hard do you think it would be for your opponent to inflict a significant
amount of damage on you or even kill you. Another interesting fact that you may
not be aware of is the fact that if the groin is struck just right and with a sufficient
amount of force, that you can actually kill a man by striking him in the groin.

A vulnerable point is generally defined as an area of the body where, when struck
results in slight to moderate damage. A good example of this would be the nose.
Depending upon the amount of force used, a blow to the nose can result in as little
damage as a localized pain and watering of the eyes to a broken nose resulting in
an inability to breath through the nose combined with intense pain and blurred
vision due to a watering of the eyes. This is far from incapacitating, although it
can and usually does impede your ability to defend yourself.

2. The actual vital/vulnerable point being struck should be considered to be no larger than the diameter of a dime.

The more focused and concentrated you can make your attack the more effective it is going to be. There is a line in the movie “The Patriot” where Mel Gibson’s character asks two of his sons what he had taught them about shooting, there response was, “Aim small miss small.” This is very good advice not only for shooting, but for any activity where you are required to hit a specific point or target like say for example, kicking. Imagine how effective your kicks will be when you can consistently place them in an area the size of a dime.

3. The amount of force needed to affect a particular vital/vulnerable point.

Although basically built the same, each human beings physical make-up and tolerance for pain varies from individual to individual. Therefore, the amount of force necessary to affect a particular vital/vulnerable point on an individual may vary from one to another. This is very important to know so that you can gauge just exactly how much force is needed in order to gain control of a particular situation. You don’t want to strike a person and inadvertently cause more damage than what is necessary. On the other hand, you don’t want to use too little force either if the situation warrants the use of serious or even lethal force.

4. What type of damage can be caused by striking a particular vital/vulnerable point?

As I previously stated above, a good example of this would be the nose.
Depending upon the amount of force used, a blow to the nose can result in as little
damage as a localized pain and watering of the eyes to a broken nose resulting in
an inability to breath through the nose combined with intense pain and blurred
vision due to a watering of the eyes.

Final Thoughts:

The subject of vital/vulnerable points and how to strike them is a very serious matter and one that should never be taken lightly. I personally am very leery about teaching people about them and usually only give a generalized description of them.

Two excellent resources on the human body and vital/vulnerable points are Black Medicine, Vol. #1 by N. Mashiro, Ph.D. and the classic text, Gray’s Anatomy. I highly recommend both books for further information on the subject.

Lifetime Wants and Desires

Filed under: Management — admin @ 7:02 pm

Do you know all the things you want to have, do and be in life? Have your listed them? Not too many people do, but it’s interesting, of the people who accomplish a lot in their life, most all have a list.

Though the years I have noticed that most highly successful, adventurous and accomplished people have a list of all the things they would like to do. And most of them did not know how they would accomplish all the things on the list when they initially wrote them down, yet they do it.

There is magic in a list of this sort; the people who do make a list eventually come up with ways to accomplish much or all of their list. And those who do not make a list usually don’t even try to figure out how to do something. Even if you think about something it is not nearly as powerful as when you start by writing it down.

This looks so simple, so why don’t many people do this? There are several reasons: You don’t think about it. No one ever told you about doing it. Why list things that are clearly out of your means? I don’t have any experience in those things.

But I bet you do have some things that you still think would be exciting, rewarding, fulfilling or just fun to do. We all do, but generally we push them aside as unattainable.

Why don’t you do a list for yourself now? Here’s what to do and not do when making a list.

Do:

Think big, Dream big, Imagine money and resources were no object, Disregard perceived skills needed, Time is of no concern, People you want to meet, People you want to do something with, Something you have always wanted, Places you want to see/go, Activities you want to experience, Challenges that are calling you, Accomplishments you seek, Records to set, What you should have done before, No restrictive reasons, Think you are worthy

Don’t:

Consider worry or fear, Consider doubts, Consider current situation, Consider knowledge or skill, Consider education or position, Consider social status, Consider your opinion of self, Analyze how, Listen to naysayers, Be ‘reasonable’, Be ‘logical’

OK you get the idea, get to it. First, do a brain dump. Write down 100 things as fast as you can, don’t think for 5 minutes. Just write whatever comes to mind quickly, abbreviate. However many you get down is good. Skip about 4 or 5 lines between items to allow room for step three.

Second, keep the list handy and look at it at least once a day for a week, adding whatever comes to mind.

Third, After each item write how you will benefit from accomplishing each item. Is it personal satisfaction, fulfillment, serving others, whatever you feel about it? What emotional feeling would be attached to its accomplishment? This helps support the item with reasons why, which is more powerful in your mind.

Setting into your mind the desire to do this will activate your inner thoughts. For some people it may take a while for some of the things to surface. Particularly if they have been emotionally buried deep in your mind.

Erectile Dysfunction

It is thought that Erectile Dysfunction (ED) affects the lives of most men at some point, whether as a result of old age or a consequence of some deeper physiological condition. ED is commonly defined as the failure to reach and maintain erection for sexual intercourse, or indeed to produce an erection at all, as a result of interrupted blood-flow to the penis. The severity of ED in men tends to increase with age, although this doesn’t exclude younger males from suffering from the condition. In fact, it is quite common to suffer mild ED from time to time, without any underlying problems at all, as a result of stress or even tiredness. This is naturally an awkward and touchy subject for those it affects, and can lead to low self worth and self esteem issues, particularly in middle aged men. If you’re suffering from ED, which often goes hand in hand with depression, you’ll be pleased to know that the condition can be treated very effectively with the help of modern drugs and accurate diagnosis, so it needn’t be such a weight burden. With some basic treatments or even a minor surgical procedure, your problem can be completely solved, leaving you feeling rejuvenated, and better in yourself.

Erectile Dysfunction, or impotence as it is colloquially known, can cause awkwardness, particularly if the sufferer is involved in a sexual relationship. Low self-esteem translates into a poor attitude towards lovemaking and sexual intercourse, which may even be halted as a result of the condition. Indeed, ED can have a significant impact on every sphere of life, from work to social relationships and extra-curricular activities, hence it is a serious condition which should be treated promptly before it has the chance to manifest into something more sinister, and something more deeply-rooted.

The first port of call should be to consult your medical expert. A health MOT is always a good idea, but it is critical before embarking on any course of medication or medical treatment. This will also be a great way to get any anxieties or worries off your chest, and to discuss the problem with someone who knows what they’re talking about. You might find that your doctor recommends simple dietary and lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, or switching to a healthy balanced diet. If there is some other cause, you may be referred to a specialist for further examination. Don’t worry about your condition; this will only make you feel worse. Don’t go soul searching, but take a rational and logical approach to solving your problem and eradicating your dysfunction by embracing professional help.

It is also very likely that you’ll be prescribed Viagra, Cialis, Levitra or some similar medication for promoting and maintaining erectile strength. This is particularly helpful in the short term, and has brought happiness and inner peace to millions of sufferers worldwide. The drug, which artificially produces the necessary blood-flow pressure, leads to harder erections that last longer and has had an amazing impact on many lives. With the associated mental complexities, ED is a condition that is demoralizing and needs to be treated as soon as it arises, and so drugs like these are truly invaluable. With drugs like Viagra, available over the counter and on prescription at various locations, the condition needn’t be as significant a problem in modern times.
